للجهاز تحديد مورد بديل فى حالة عدم قيام أو إخفاق المورد الأصلى بإمداد المستهلكين بالغاز . وفى هذه الحالة يلتزم المورد البديل بتوريد الغاز للمستهلكين طبقا لنموذج العقد الذى يعده الجهاز لهذا الغرض ووفقا للقرارات التى يصدرها الجهاز فى هذا الشأن .
