Confidentiality

How your cases stay confidential

Lawyers owe their clients confidentiality, so the product is built around who may open what. This page explains it in plain words.

Who sees a case

Each case has a team: a lead, members and viewers. The lead decides who is on it.

Each case has a visibility. By default the case team and the firm's partners can open it. A case can be opened to the whole firm (everyone reads it, only the team works in it), or made confidential: then only the team sees it, partners included only if they are on the team, and nobody else learns that it exists.

Walls for conflicts of interest

A partner or the firm admin can bar a named lawyer from a case, with a reason. A walled-off lawyer cannot be added to the case and never meets it in a list, a search, similar cases, a mention, a notification or a chat.

Chats follow the case

A case's chats are open to the people who may open the case, or private to the lawyer who started them. An answer never shows a reader a firm case they could not open themselves.

Nothing leaves the firm

There are no public links and no sharing with another firm. What goes to a client is exported to Word or PDF, and every export is logged.

A log of what happens

Opens, exports, shares and removals, changes of roles and visibility, requests to join and walls are written to the firm's log, which the firm admin can read and export.

Our team does not see your cases

Our staff see counts, settings, members and billing, never case files, documents, chats or drafts. When support needs to look at a case, the firm admin can grant time-limited access to that one case; it ends by itself and is written to the firm's log and ours.

No training on your data

Your firm's data is never used to train AI.

Your data stays yours

You can export all of your firm's data, or ask for it to be deleted. Where the data is hosted and what the law requires of us are set out in the data processing agreement.
