يجب على جهات إنفاذ القانون وسلطات التحقيق فى قضايا غسل الأموال والجرائم الأصلية المرتبطة بها وجرائم تمويل الإرهاب إجراء التحقيقات المالية الموازية بنفسها أو بالاستعانة بمن تراه من الجهات الأخرى المختصة لتحديد مصدر هذه الأموال أو الأصول إن وجدت .
