تعتبر الموانى التخصصية القائمة حاليا والتى تنشأ مستقبلا على السواحل المصرية موانى خاضعة لإشراف وزارة النقل والمواصلات، وذلك لضمان استمرار صلاحيتها للعمل من ناحيتى السلامة البحرية والحفاظ على البيئة البحرية.
ولوزارة النقل والمواصلات أن ترخص للجهات المعنية فى إدارة الموانى التخصصية وتشغيلها وصيانتها للغرض الذى خصصت من أجله.
