يقصد بالدائرة المتكاملة فى تطبيق أحكام هذا القانون كل منتج فى هيئته النهائية أو فى هيئته الوسيطة يتضمن مكونات - أحدها على الأقل يكون عنصرا نشطا - مثبتة على قطعة من مادة عازلة ، وتشكل مع بعض الوصلات أو كلها كيانا متكاملا يستهدف تحقيق وظيفة الكترونية محددة .
كما يقصد بالتصميم التخطيطى كل ترتيب ثلاثى الأبعاد معد لدائرة متكاملة بغرض التصنيع .
