يترتب على صرف معاش التقاعد ألا يباشر الصحفي أى عمل من أعمال الصحافة . وينقل اسمه نهائيا من جدول الصحفيين المشتغلين إلى جدول غير المشتغلين .
ولا يجوز للصحفي ، بعد أن يحصل على معاش التقاعد ، أن يطلب إعادة قيد اسمه في جدول المشتغلين .
