مدة شغل وظيفة العمدة أو الشيخ خمس سنوات ميلادية من تاريخ تعيينه فيها، ويجوز تجديدها لمدة أو لمدد أخرى وفقا للإجراءات التى تحددها اللائحة التنفيذية لهذا القانون.
وتعتبر الوظيفة خالية من اليوم التالى لانقضاء هذه المدة دون تجديد.
