يعطى وزير الداخلية كل ذى شأن شهادة بالجنسية المصرية مقابل أداء رسم لا يجاوز خمسة جنيهات وذلك بعد التحقق من ثبوت الجنسية ، ويصدر بتحديد الرسم قرار من وزير الداخلية .
ويكون لهذه الشهادة حجيتها القانونية ما لم تلغ بقرار مسبب من وزير الداخلية ويجب أن تعطى هذه الشهادة لطالبها خلال سنة على الأكثر من تاريخ تقديم الطلب ، ويعتبر الامتناع عن إعطائها فى الميعاد المذكور رفضا للطلب
