تعين بقرار من الوزير المختص بشئون النقل هيئات الإشراف البحرى التى تقبل شهاداتها وتقارير المعاينة التى تصدرها للسفن والوحدات البحرية المسجلة بها فيما يختص بتعيين درجة تصنيف السفن أو الوحدات البحرية أو تحديد صلاحية الجسم والآلات المسيرة وكذلك تحديد خطوط الشحن.
