يؤدي عضو مجلس الشيوخ قبل مباشرة عمله أمام المجلس اليمين الآتى نصها :
«أقسم بالله العظيم أن أحافظ مخلصا على النظام الجمهوري، وأن أحترم الدستور
والقانون، وأن أرعى مصالح الشعب رعاية كاملة، وأن أحافظ على استقلال الوطن ووحدة
وسلامة أراضيه.」
