تحفظ الآثار المنقولة ، وما تتطلب الاعتبارات الموضوعية نقله من الآثار المعمارية وتوضع فى متاحف الهيئة ومخازنها ، وتتولى الهيئة تنظيم العرض فيها وإدارتها بالأساليب العلمية ، وصيانة محتوياتها ومباشرة وسائل الحماية والأمن الضرورية لها ، وإقامة معارض داخلية مؤقتة تتبعها .
للهيئة أن تعهد للجامعات المصرية بتنظيم وإدارة المتاحف الكائنة بها ، وبكلياتها مع ضمان تسجيلها وتأمينها .
وتعتبر متاحف ومخازن الآثار فى كل هذه الأحوال من أملاك الدولة العامة .
