تتولى هيئة الآثار إعداد المعالم والمواقع الأثرية والمبانى التاريخية المسجلة للزيارة والدراسة بما لا يتنافى مع تأمينها وصيانتها ، وتعمل على إظهار خصائصها ومميزاتها الفنية والتاريخية .
كما تستخدم الهيئة إمكانيات المراقم والمتاحف الأثرية فى تنمية الوعى الأثرى بكل الوسائل .
