تختص هيئة الشرطة بالمحافظة على النظام والأمن العام والآداب، وبحماية الأرواح والأعراض والأموال وعلى الأخص منع الجرائم وضبطها، كما تختص بكفالة الطمأنينة والأمن للمواطنين فى كافة المجالات، وبتنفيذ ما تفرضه عليها القوانين واللوائح من واجبات.
