يهدف الجهاز إلى تنظيم ومتابعة ومراقبة وتطوير كل ما يتعلق بنشاط الكهرباء
إنتاجا ونقلا وتوزيعا واستهلاكا ، وبما يضمن توفرها وكفاءتها وجودتها واستمرارها
فى الوفاء بمتطلبات أوجه الاستخدام المختلفة بأنسب الأسعار ، مع الحفاظ على البيئة ،
وإلى جذب وتشجيع الاستثمار فى هذا المجال فى إطار من المنافسة الحرة المشروعة ،
وذلك بمراعاة مصالح المستهلكين وأطراف مرفق الكهرباء ، كما يهدف إلى إتاحة
المعلومات دون تمييز وفى إطار من المساواة وحرية المنافسة .
