يجب على المواطن الموجود بالخارج التبليغ عن واقعة زواجه أو طلاقه التي حدثت بالخارج خلال ثلاثة أشهر من تاريخ حدوث الواقعة لقنصلية جمهورية مصر العربية أو لقسم سجل مدني المواطنين بالخارج.
وتنظم اللائحة التنفيذية إجراءات القيد حتى إصدار وثيقة الزواج أو الطلاق من قسم سجل مدني المواطنين بالخارج وتسليمها لصاحب الشأن.
