تكون بطاقة تحقيق الشخصية حجة على صحة البيانات الواردة بها متى كانت صالحة للاستعمال وسارية المفعول، ولا يجوز للجهات الحكومية أو غير الحكومية الامتناع عن اعتمادها في إثبات شخصية صاحبها.
ويجب على كل من تنطبق عليه أحكام المادة (48) من هذا القانون حمل بطاقته وتقديمها إلى مندوبي السلطات العامة فورا كلما طلب إليه ذلك للاطلاع عليها، ولا يجوز لمندوبي السلطات العامة سحبها أو الاحتفاظ بها.
