يختص مديرو إدارات الأحوال المدنية بفحص طلبات قيد ساقطي قيد الميلاد والوفاة وإصدار قرار القيد إذا قدم الطلب خلال عام من تاريخ الواقعة، وتحدد اللائحة التنفيذية النموذج الذي يقدم عليه الطلب والمستندات الواجب إرفاقها به والإجراءات التي تتبع ويحدد وزير الداخلية بقرار منه رسوم البحث وفقا لمواعيد تقديم الطلب بما لا يجاوز عشرة جنيهات.
