مدة الدراسة فى مرحلة التعليم الثانوى ثلاث سنوات دراسية ، ويشترط فيمن يقبل بالصف الأول من مرحلة التعليم الثانوى أن يكون حاصلا على شهادة إتمام الدراسة بمرحلة التعليم الأساسى . وألا تزيد سنه فى أول أكتوبر من العام الدراسى على ثمانية عشر عاما . ويصدر وزير التعليم القرارات المنظمة لحالات التجاوز عن السن .
